The idea of the cosmic tapestry came to me one night when I was ruminating on my past, present, and future. I had this amazing experience where I suddenly felt as if I were a thread in a cosmic tapestry - a piece of cloth that is existence. The cloth had no beginning and no end and we were all a part of it, along with everyone we know and everyone we have known and everyone and everything we will come to know. It was a very comforting but humbling thought. Since that moment I have heard of this idea and variations on it from other sources, most notably in the book, The Crossing, by Cormac McCarthy. In that book a character speaks about the universe being a cosmic tapestry in a way that completely mirrored my experience. It was astounding to read. I have given my website that name to share the sense that I am creating these images for all to enjoy and find connection with, and that they have had their genesis in a shared and infintely complex history.
